FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can my horses knock the feeder over?

Normally the feeder is installed outside the fence and just the feed pan protrudes through an opening into the horses enclosure. Installed this way the feeder probably could not fall over. In our testing one horse actually stood in the feed pan and tried to open the hopper doors. While the feed pan was not designed to endure the weight of an entire horse it held up and the feeder remained stable.

Can I use the Graz-A-Matic with more than one horse?

Yes, It is possible to adjust the weight setting by adding the feed amounts of each horse and the setting the lever for that weight. This will only work for two horses and then they must be small to medium in size as the maximum output of the feeder per day is 28 lbs. The preferred method would be to provide a feeder for each horse and daisy chain them together insuring that they are all fed simultaneously.

How can I use the feeders if I have several horses all in the same enclosure?

Provide one feeder per horse, daisy chain them together using the kit provided and they will all feed at the same time. If all of the feeders do not come on simultaneously our testing showed that the dominant horses will end up with all of the feed. Daisy chained, we found that the dominant horse or horses would usually choose a feeder normally the one they were nearest when the feeders came on would eat a few cubes out of it and then push a less dominant horse on either side of them out of their feeder (establishes dominance) and then would remain at that feeder until empty. Dominant horses tended to eat slower as they have little fear of being pushed out before their feed was gone. In all cases the less dominant horse had eaten all of the feed provided by the feeder long before the dominant horse was finished. This insures that everyone gets to eat.

Can the Graz-A-Matic feed Pellets?
